Living Portraits- Costume Design and Construction

Costume Design and Construction for Public Exhibition

A research project into the history of costumes. Each class member was given a time period to research and either male or female. We then had to create a character which could be associated with that time period and create a costume to suit them. Choosing a model from within our class we each set out to create a costume form pattern through to finished piece, sourcing materials and fitting the costume as well as creating a ‘Picture frame’ to correspond with the design. a public exhibition was then set up for us to each showcase our work alongside our peers as a living portraiture gallery.
